“Nirvana” is a highly acclaimed Bulgarian play written by Konstantin Iliev and directed by Ivan Dobchev. The plot is based on the real life story of one of the best Bulgarian poets of the 19th century, Peyo Yavorov and his infamous wife, Lora Karavelova. The roles are played by Hristo Bonin and Irmena Chichikova. The performance is a part of Theatre Laboratory Sfumato’s program and has been played for more than five years now. It had a couple of theatre nominations and awards, including Best male and Best score. Since 2009, “Nirvana” has been played more than 70 times, on different stages across the country, also taking part in almost every theatre festival. Its travel history includes not only Bulgarian cities, but a huge quantity of stages outside the country. The cities which the performance has visited are Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Brussels, Vienna, London, Athens, Poznan.
